Feds: New York City cop plotted with woman to molest her baby — and they recorded it all on Skype

DAVID EDWARDS 30 OCT 2014 AT 11:48 ET A New York City police officer and a woman from Colorado were indicted this week for conspiring online to molest her 1-year-old child. Sgt. Alberto Randazzo was arrested last year on charges of using a child in a sexual performance, promoting sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child. But new court documents obtained by the New York Daily News describe in detail the shocking 2010 Skype video chats where Keira Norton carries out the sex acts as Randazzo instructs her. At least 11 Skype video files were recovered by investigators. It was not clear why the woman agreed to molest her child, according to the Daily News. Both Randazzo and Norton face up to 15 years in jail if convicted. HT: Raw Story

Lindsey Graham unfiltered: jokes about white men, Baptists

By Peter Hamby, CNN National Political Reporter updated 8:07 PM EDT, Wed October 29, 2014 Washington (CNN) -- South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, who is toying with the idea of a presidential bid, joked in a private gathering this month that "white men who are in male-only clubs are going to do great in my presidency," according to an audio recording of his comments provided to CNN. In the meeting, the Republican also cracked wise about Baptists, saying "they're the ones who drink and don't admit it," a variation of a joke he sometimes tells in public. Graham's folksy sense of humor and his shoot-from-the-hip style are part of his political appeal, and well-known to journalists and his colleagues in the Senate. But the behind-closed-doors remarks are a departure from the G-rated jokes he tells in public, and another reminder for politicians in the iPhone era that they are rarely far from a microphone, no matter how private the setting. The audio snippets were provided to CNN on Wednesday by two separate South Carolina Democrats who received the recordings from a person using an anonymous Gmail address. Graham confirmed the recordings in an interview Wednesday with CNN. read more

Sergeants in the LA Sheriff Dept attempted to lie and arrest FBI agent

Lying to the FBI is a crime, as Sgt. Craig would soon find out. Marx was not "a named suspect in a felony complaint" and Craig knew he could not arrest the FBI agent for her role in the FBI's undercover operation at Men's Central Jail. The FBI sting included smuggling a contraband cell phone into inmate-turned-FBI informant Anthony Brown through a corrupt sheriff's deputy who accepted a cash bribe from an undercover FBI agent. read more...

#Conservative talk show host #MichaelSavage attacks veterans with #PTSD

SUBMITTED BY Brian Tashman on Tuesday, 10/21/2014 11:25 am Last week on his talk radio program, Michael Savage got into an argument with a caller over whether California lawmakers should rename a San Francisco tunnel in honor of Robin Williams. The caller, who said he was a veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), defended the move, while Savage objected to the plan, claiming that it would promote suicide. After a lengthy argument, Savage hung up on the caller and proceeded to attack him. “I am so sick and tired with everyone with their complaints about PTSD, depression. Everyone wants their hand held and a check, a government check. What, are you the only generation that had PTSD? The only generation that’s depressed?” He then blamed America’s problems on those who “cry like a little baby” over depression: “If the whole nation is told, ‘boo-hoo-hoo, come and get a medication, come and get treatment, talk about mental illness,’ you know what you wind up with? You wind up with Obama in the White House and lawyers in every phase of the government, that’s what you wind up with. It’s a weak, sick nation. A weak, sick, broken nation.” Savage continued that veterans with PTSD are a “bunch of losers” and recommended that they be more like Michael Savage. “You need men like me to save the country,” he said. “You need men to stand up and say stop crying like a baby over everything.” He continued that “men are so weak and so narcissistic” that it is “no wonder ISIS can defeat our military.” - See more at: http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/michael-savage-veterans-ptsd-are-destroying-america#sthash.4T2BZ1LO.dpuf

Chinese Government Censors TV - Big Brother in the living room

REPOST: I thought it may be interesting for some of you that have not lived in a censored country or had your freedom of speech removed, to see how this works in practice with regards to simple things - like watching the news. I am a European living in Mainland China, next to HK. Almost all foreign social media / media is blocked, which leaves us with just a few channels on TV showing international news broadcasts. The feed is delayed a few seconds (as you can see by the mismatch between audio and image); as soon as the TV channel shows something which is contrary to the government policy (i.e. Hong Kong protests, the Dalai Lama, reporting pieces on the wealth of the CCP party leaders) then the feed gets cut, the TV goes black - and bizarrely - we get to watch a loop feed of parries and flowers, with a subtitle that says the 'signal has technical problems'…. The first time this happened to me in a hotel I thought i had inadvertently broken the TV. Now after a few years of no NYT, WSJ, Bloomberg, Reuters, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Google, Gmail (list goes on and on) a dark reality sets in. We can still access some content (like LL) with costly VPNs which slow down our browsing rate, but that is not the issue. The collective society's minds are kept isolated, controlled and confirmative… and that is the gravest problem. When the currently leadership is dead and gone - who knows what their youth of tomorrow - never having been offered the possibility of free thought, will do. This is my first post so take it easy ;) will try to bring you more extreme and crazy clips from China as we go on.

The War On Democracy (John Pilger's documentary)

_____________________________________________________

Documentary
United Kingdom / Australia, 2007

Directed by: John Pilger, Christopher Martin
Producers: Christopher Martin, Wayne Young
Editor: Joe Frost
The film was made with the support of the humanitarian financier Michael Watt.

'The War On Democracy' (2007) was John Pilger's first for cinema. It explores the current and past relationship of Washington with Latin American countries such as Venezuela, Bolivia and Chile.

Using archive footage sourced by Michael Moore's archivist Carl Deal, the film shows how serial US intervention, overt and covert, has toppled a series of legitimate governments in the Latin American region since the 1950s. The democratically elected Chilean government of Salvador Allende, for example, was ousted by a US backed coup in 1973 and replaced by the military dictatorship of General Pinochet. Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador have all been invaded by the United States.

John Pilger interviews several ex-CIA agents who took part in secret campaigns against democratic countries in the region. He investigates the School of the Americas in the US state of Georgia, where Pinochet's torture squads were trained along with tyrants and death squad leaders in Haiti, El Salvador, Brazil and Argentina.

The film unearths the real story behind the attempted overthrow of Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez in 2002 and how the people of the barrios of Caracas rose up to force his return to power.

It also looks at the wider rise of populist governments across South America lead by indigenous leaders intent on loosening the shackles of Washington and a fairer redistribution of the continent's natural wealth.

John Pilger says: "[The film] is about the struggle of people to free themselves from a modern form of slavery". These people, he says, "describe a world not as American presidents like to see it as useful or expendable, they describe the power of courage and humanity among people with next to nothing. They reclaim noble words like democracy, freedom, liberation, justice, and in doing so they are defending the most basic human rights of all of us in a war being waged against all of us."

'The War On Democracy' was a Youngheart Entertainment, Granada and Michael Watt production. It was released in UK cinemas on 15 June 2007 and broadcast on ITV1, 20 August 2007.

Georgia cop accused of killing woman he met online, then burning her body

Oklahoma police officer charged with multiple counts of rape

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma City police officer has been charged with 16 counts that include rape and sexual battery after authorities said he attacked at least eight women while on patrol.
Prosecutors on Friday charged 27-year-old Daniel Holtzclaw, who also faces charges of forcible oral sodomy and indecent exposure.
Police arrested Holtzclaw on Aug. 21. Police say Holtzclaw stopped the women, who were all black and between the ages of 34 and 58, while he was on duty. Investigators allege that he raped two women and either fondled others or forced them to expose themselves.
Police have said there may be more victims in the case.
Holtzclaw's attorney said Friday his client denies the allegations against him.

Left Rite Left: A SWAT team blew a hole in my 2-year-old son

A SWAT team blew a hole in my 2-year-old son
After our house burned down in Wisconsin a few months ago, my husband and I packed our four young kids and all our belongings into a gold minivan and drove to my sister-in-law’s place, just outside of Atlanta. On the back windshield, we pasted six stick figures: a dad, a mom, three young girls, and one baby boy. That minivan was sitting in the front driveway of my sister-in-law’s place the night a SWAT team broke in, looking for a small amount of drugs they thought my husband’s nephew had. Some of my kids’ toys were in the front yard, but the officers claimed they had no way of knowing children might be present. Our whole family was sleeping in the same room, one bed for us, one for the girls, and a crib. After the SWAT team broke down the door, they threw a flashbang grenade inside. It landed in my son’s crib. Flashbang grenades were created for soldiers to use during battle. When they explode, the noise is so loud and the flash is so bright that anyone close by is temporarily blinded and deafened. It’s been three weeks since the flashbang exploded next to my sleeping baby, and he’s still covered in burns. There’s still a hole in his chest that exposes his ribs. At least that’s what I’ve been told; I’m afraid to look. My husband’s nephew, the one they were looking for, wasn’t there. He doesn’t even live in that house. After breaking down the door, throwing my husband to the ground, and screaming at my children, the officers – armed with M16s – filed through the house like they were playing war. They searched for drugs and never found any. I heard my baby wailing and asked one of the officers to let me hold him. He screamed at me to sit down and shut up and blocked my view, so I couldn’t see my son. I could see a singed crib. And I could see a pool of blood. The officers yelled at me to calm down and told me my son was fine, that he’d just lost a tooth. It was only hours later when they finally let us drive to the hospital that we found out Bou Bou was in the intensive burn unit and that he’d been placed into a medically induced coma. For the last three weeks, my husband and I have been sleeping at the hospital. We tell our son that we love him and we’ll never leave him behind. His car seat is still in the minivan, right where it’s always been, and we whisper to him that soon we’ll be taking him home with us. Every morning, I have to face the reality that my son is fighting for his life. It’s not clear whether he’ll live or die. All of this to find a small amount of drugs? The only silver lining I can possibly see is that my baby Bou Bou’s story might make us angry enough that we stop accepting brutal SWAT raids as a normal way to fight the “war on drugs.” I know that this has happened to other families, here in Georgia and across the country. I know that SWAT teams are breaking into homes in the middle of the night, more often than not just to serve search warrants in drug cases. I know that too many local cops have stockpiled weapons that were made for soldiers to take to war. And as is usually the case with aggressive policing, I know that people of color and poor people are more likely to be targeted. I know these things because of the American Civil Liberties Union’s new report, and because I’m working with them to push for restraints on the use of SWAT. A few nights ago, my 8-year-old woke up in the middle of the night screaming, “No, don’t kill him! You’re hurting my brother! Don’t kill him.” How can I ever make that go away? I used to tell my kids that if they were ever in trouble, they should go to the police for help. Now my kids don’t want to go to sleep at night because they’re afraid the cops will kill them or their family. It’s time to remind the cops that they should be serving and protecting our neighborhoods, not waging war on the people in them. I pray every minute that I’ll get to hear my son’s laugh again, that I’ll get to watch him eat French fries or hear him sing his favorite song from “Frozen.” I’d give anything to watch him chase after his sisters again. I want justice for my baby, and that means making sure no other family ever has to feel this horrible pain. Update: As of the afternoon of 6/24/2014, Baby Bou Bou has been taken out of the medically induced coma and transferred to a new hospital to begin rehabilitation. The hole in his chest has yet to heal, and doctors are still not able to fully assess lasting brain damage. Alecia Phonesavanh is the mother of Bounkham Phonesavanh, nicknamed "Baby Bou Bou." She and her family live in Atlanta. For more information about Bou Bou, go to www.justiceforbabyboubou.com.

Supreme Court Makes Sweeping Endorsement Of Digital Privacy

Supreme Court Makes Bold Endorsement Of Digital Privacy Police officers must get a warrant before searching the contents of a cell phone seized during an arrest, the Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday, an opinion that amounts to a sweeping endorsement of digital privacy. "Modern cell phones are not just another technological convenience. With all they contain and all they may reveal, they hold for many Americans 'the privacies of life,'" Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the opinion. "The fact that technology now allows an individual to carry such information in his hand does not make the information any less worthy of the protection for which the Founders fought. Our answer to the question of what police must do before searching a cell phone seized incident to an arrest is accordingly simple — get a warrant." Roberts shot down the Obama administration's argument that searching a cell phone is “materially indistinguishable” from physical searches. "That is like saying a ride on horseback is materially indistinguishable from a flight to the moon," he said. The court ruled that cell phones today are more like "minicomputers that also happen to have the capacity to be used as a telephone" and that their increased storage capacity has "several interrelated consequences for privacy." Phones can include many distinct types of information -- such as addresses, notes, prescriptions, bank statements, videos -- that can reveal "much more in combination" than any one type. "The sum of an individual’s private life can be reconstructed through a thousand photographs labeled with dates, locations, and descriptions; the same cannot be said of a photograph or two of loved ones tucked into a wallet," the opinion stated. The court acknowledged that the ruling "will have an impact on the ability of law enforcement to combat crime." "Privacy comes at a cost," Roberts said, adding that if police want to search cell phones, they simply must "get a warrant."

Confiscated Video Showing Oklahoma Cops Killing Man

The chilling video that had been confiscated by police showing five Oklahoma cops piling on top of a man in a movie theater parking lot earlier this month, leading to his death, was released today, showing the cops were struggling with what appeared to have been a dead man for five minutes. After all, Luis Rodriguez, 44, was not only not resisting, he was not even moving during the duration of the video. But still, you can hear one of the cops say, “calm down, sir,” as he pushes his face into the pavement. Rodriguez’s wife, who was video recording, kept pleading for her husband to respond, but he said nothing. It wasn’t until several minutes into the video that she realizes he is dead. One of the cops walks up to her to try and reassure her everything is under control as she is panicking. He ends up grabbing her phone, not in a coercion manner, but she is under no condition to even question this move, having just seen her husband killed. The incident began when Rodriguez’s wife slapped their 19-year-old daughter over an argument, then stormed off, which prompted her husband to run after her. But the cops intervened, demanded his identification. Family members say he tried to step around them to get to his wife. Police say he became combative.
